amendment:

(n) a small change or improvement that is made to a law or a document.

Club movement:

American social movement founded to provide women an independent access for education and active community service.

disenfranchise:

(v) to take away somebody’s rights, especially their right to vote.

enfranchise:

(v) to give somebody the right to vote in an election.

lobby:

(v) to try to influence (an official) to take a desired action.

picketing:

(n) the activity of standing outside the entrance to a building in order to protest about something and stop people from entering the building.

Settlement house movement:

social movement that intended for the rich and the poor to live together in interdependent communities.
